Seven Unanswered Runs Leads Shoes to Win Over Bees

Springfield, IL – The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes scored seven unanswered runs between the

second and seventh innings, and silenced Burlington's bats in the meantime to win 8-3 at Robin

Roberts Stadium on June 10.

Foti Rigopoulos (Illinois) wasted no time to get the scoring started, leading off the game with a

home run to left for his first long ball of the season. In the bottom half of the inning, Riley Fuller

(Evangel) retired the Lucky Horseshoes in order.

Burlington would go up 2-0 in the second after Johnnie Ankenbruck (Huntington) scored on a

double steal.

The rest of the game was dominated by Springfield. The Lucky Horseshoes tied the game with a

run in the second and third innings. A two run fifth and three run seventh helped them pull

away.

The Bees squandered chances to get back in the game after leaving the bases loaded in the

sixth and two runners on in the seventh.

Rowen Bergeron (LSU-Eunice) recorded his first hit and RBI as a Bee as he doubled home Kila

Teixeira (Hawaii Pacific) in the eighth.

Burlington (5-9) drops the first of four meetings against Springfield this season. The next

matchup is set for July 17 at Robin Roberts Stadium.

The Bees return home tomorrow against the Quincy Doggy Paddlers. First pitch is set for 6:30

pm at Community Field.
