Offense Lifts Bees to Win in Johnstown

Johnstown, PA – The Burlington Bees used a pair of six run innings to pull away from the
Johnstown Mill Rats for an 18-12 victory at Sargent's Stadium at the Point on May 29.
Johnstown held a 2-1 lead entering the third inning before Foti Rigopoulos (Illinois) scored on a
wild pitch to even the game at two. The Bees' offense then erupted as Lucas Krebs (Illinois)
launched a grand slam over the center-field fence. Milo Kelley (Iowa) followed by going back-toback with a solo home run to left field, capping off a six-run inning and giving Burlington a 7-2
lead.
The Mill Rats would plate four runs across the next three innings to cut the lead to three before
Burlington scored six runs in the top of the 6th. PJ Hamel (McHenry) singled in Troy Peltz (Iowa
Western) before Krebs knocked in Hamel and Kila Teixeira (Hawaii Pacific). A Tanner Reinartz
(Huntington) bases loaded walk set up a Peltz double to plate two more runs.
Burlington would score three more times in the top of the 7th as Rigopoulos doubled in Kelley
before Juan Fernandez (SCC) singled to right field and came around to score on the same play
due to a pair of Johnstown errors to put the Bees up 18-6.
Johnstown would score six unanswered runs to make it an 18-12 game after the 8th, but that
score would hold.
Five Bees pitchers made their season debuts in the victory. Talon Jennings (Olney Central) got
the start and worked 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs. Quinn Wilfong (Florida State College –
Jacksonville) earned the win after tossing 1 1/3 innings in relief. Jaylan Patterson (Hawaii
Pacific) and Zach Troxel (Indiana Wesleyan) each turned in scoreless relief outings to secure the
win.
Offensively, the Bees were led by Fernandez and Krebs. Fernandez recorded four hits and
scored five runs. Krebs drove in six runners, including the grand slam in the top of the 3rd.
Johnstown (2-2) wraps up a six game homestand this weekend with two games against
Kokomo.
Burlington (2-1) continues a five game road trip with a doubleheader in Springfield, Ohio on
Saturday, May 31 at Carleton Davidson Stadium. First pitch is set for 3:05 CDT.
