Johnstown Rallies to Defeat Bees
Johnstown, PA – Jack Newman hit a go-ahead two run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning
to put Johnstown up by two runs for their first lead of the game. The final score would hold as
the Mill Rats handed the Bees their first loss of the 2026 season, winning 6-4 at Sargent's
Stadium at the Point on May 28.
Burlington got the scoring started in the second inning when Adam Kudronowicz (Iowa
Western) plated Troy Peltz (Iowa Western) on a sacrifice fly.
That score would hold until the fourth inning when Johnstown singled in a run to tie the game
at 1.
The Bees struck for two runs in the fifth after Peltz drove in Kole Sonnenburg (Mount Mercy)
with a single. Foti Rigopoulos (Illinois) crossed the plate later in the inning on a passed ball.
Johnstown would answer again by scoring one run in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the score
at three.
Burlington regained the lead in the top of the 7th when Sonnenburg tripled to begin the frame
and scored on a Rigopoulos sacrifice fly.
The Mill Rats would go on to score the final three runs of the game as Trey Gardner tied the
contest with a double in the 7th before Newman's homer in the 8th.
Riley Fuller (Evangel) started the game on the mound for the Bees. He retired the first nine
batters he faced before allowing one run in the fourth. Ramzy Rodriguez (Mesa CC), Ty
Mikkelsen (Iowa) and Jake Weissenberger (Mount Mercy) each saw time out of the bullpen.
