Burlington Wins Sixth Straight at Home, Run-Rules the Thrillbillies

Burlington, IA - Bombs Away! The Burlington Bees (26-21, 14-7) hit four homers in a 16-6 victory over the Thrillville Thrillbillies (26-21,10-12). It was the Bees sixth straight win at home.

 

The game ended in seven-innings due to the run-rule. 

 

Thrillville scored the first run of the game in the second inning. It came on no-hits. The Bees answered with three-runs in the bottom of the inning. 

 

Corey Boyette (Lipscomb) homered to open the inning. Caleb Seibers (Olney Central) followed with a long-bomb of his own. It was both of their eighth homers of the year. 

 

Kila Teixeira (Hawaii-Pacific) singled and Ethan McDonald (Eureka) walked. 

 

Lincoln Cardwell (Parkland) singled in the infield to score the third run of the inning. 

 

The 'Billies scored twice in the top of the fourth. The team answered big-time in the bottom of the frame.

 

Cardwell started with a hit by pitch. Jace Figuereo (SCC) doubled to score him, 

 

In the next at-bat, Marcus Beatty (SCC) tripled for his first three-bagger of the year. It scored one. 


Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) doubled to plate another.  Kooper Schulte (Iowa) singled to put runners on the corners. 

 

Corey Boyette (Lipscomb) singled to make it 7-3. Seibers reached on an error to bring Schulte home.

 

Kila Teixeira (Hawaii-Pacific) continued with a 2 RBI single. It made it 10-3 and Teixeira finished 3 for 3 with two runs and RBI. These were the last runs of the rally.

 

Alex Logan (John Wood CC) got the start and threw four innings. He allowed four-hits and three earned runs. 

 

Burlington got back to work in the sixth with another explosion of runs. With one out, Siebers hit his second long-ball of the game. He is now tied second in the league in home runs. 

 

Teixeira and Cardwell were both hit by pitches. 

 

Figuereo followed with an RBI double. It was his third extra-base hit in two games. He went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI. 

 

Beatty's great game continued with a 2 RBI double to make it 14-3. He had a four-hit, 3 RBI tally.

 

After a wild pitch, Beatty advanced to third. He scored on a throwing error. 

 

Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) capped off the offensive-day with his second shot of the season. 

 

The team allowed three in the top of the seventh. Micheal Schaul (Mount Mercy) tossed the final 2.2 innings of the game. 

 

The two teams will face off against at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.
