Bees lose in Extras-Innings to Normal

Normal, IL - The Burlington Bees (25-21,13-7) lost to the Normal Cornbelters (18-27, 6-13) 5-4 in 10 innings July 22 at the Corn Crib

 

The Bees' five game win-streak is snapped. 

 

The team did all of its scoring in the fourth inning. They trailed 3-0 going into the frame

 

Caleb Seibers (Olney Central) began the inning on a walk with one out. He moved to second on a groundout. 

 

Seibers would steal third with two-outs. 

 

Colin Schmitke (SCC) worked a walk to put two on. Jace Figuereo (SCC) came up with an RBI single to get the team on the board. 

 

Figuereo finished 3 for 6 with a run and RBI.

 

Caleb Klein (SCC) followed with a single to load the bases. 

 

A passed ball allowed one to score. 


Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) singled to plate another. It was his 24th RBI of the season. 

 

After a pitching change, an error on the pitcher allowed Klein to score. 

 

Burlington scored four runs on three hits in the inning. The team finished with nine hits and zero errors. 

 

Normal scored one in the sixth and one in the tenth. 

 

Danny Harris (Mesa CC) got the start. After allowing three in the first, he settled down in a big-way. He finished five strong with three earned runs. The righty struck out eight. 

 

Kaimana Burgo (Hawaii-Pacific) allowed one earned run and left the bases loaded in the sixth.

 

Jack Duncan (Western Illinois) threw 1.2 innings and let up no hits or runs. He walked one batter.

 

Braeden Sunken (Maryville) tossed the final two innings. He gave up one-run with two strikeouts. He stranded a runner on third in the eighth to keep it a tied game. 

 

Isaac Graf got the win. 

Normal remains at home to face off with the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes (12-31, 4-14) tomorrow.


Burlington returns to Community Field to take on the Thrillville Thrillbillies (26-19,10-10) at 6:30 p.m.
