Danny Harris Gem Lifts Burlington To Early Victory

Normal, IL - Danny Harris (Mesa CC) began the new week ready to play. The righty threw seven shutout frames to receive the win in the Burlington Bees (21-20, 9-6) 9-0 victory over the Normal Cornbelters (16-23, 4-9) July 15 at the Corn Crib. The game began at 11 a.m.

Harris' gem was not the only highlight of the day, the Bees hit three home runs and scored three runs in three separate innings.

After the game began 0-0 for the first third, Burlington strung its first rally in the top of the fourth in an explosive way.

Keanu Spenser (Hawaii-Pacific) and Kooper Schulte (Iowa) hit back to back home runs to make it 2-0 with no outs. It was Spenser's fifth and Schulte's third of the year.

Caleb Seibers (Olney Central) and Marcus Beatty immediately followed with doubles to make it 3-0. It was Beatty's first extra-base hit.

With two outs in the sixth, the Bees found their way out of the stadium. Ethan McDonald (Eureka) walked and Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) singled to put the pair on.

Jeremy Figueroa (Mt.Mercy) drove a ball over the fence for a three-run shot to make it 6-0. It was his first homer of the season.

Burlington padded its lead in the eighth inning. McDonald led off the frame with a single. Yearsley followed with a one-base knock. He finished 3 for 4.

With nobody out, Figueroa lined out to short; however, an error allowed one to score.

Owen Nowak (McHenry) came up with an RBI single to score the team's eighth run. It was his 15th hit and 17th RBI of 2025.

After a walk and a single from Spenser and Schulte, Seibers hit a sacrifice fly to make it 9-0. The infielder has 27 RBI on the year.

Harris moves to 4-1 on the year. Mitchell Cox (Crown College) threw two innings out of relief, letting up two hits and no runs.

The two teams rematch July 16 at 6:30 p.m. The game will again be in Normal.
