Bees Lose In Valley

Peru, IL- The Burlington Bees (9-10) allowed three runs in the fifth inning to lose 6-2 to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (8-10) June 17 at Schweickert Stadium

 

Burlington finished with two runs, seven hits and two errors. 

 

The team got on the board in the first inning on a two-out Corey Boyette (Lipscomb) solo homer. 

 

Colten Clarahan (SCC) got the start. He left the bases loaded in the first, before giving up two unearned runs in the second.

 

His final line was four innings with four hits, no earned runs, one walk and two strikeouts. 

 

The Bees manufactured another run in the third. Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) doubled with one out to get into scoring position.

 

Miles Risley (Iowa) singled to get him home. 

 

Illinois Valley scored three runs in the fifth on no hits and one in the eighth on a hit. 

 

Raul Gil (Highland) got the loss.

 

 Erick McKendry (Allan Hancock College) threw 2.1 innings out of relief with no runs allowed to lead the relievers. 

 

Josh Katz got the win for the Shrimp.


The two teams face off again tomorrow. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
