Burlington Drops Road Game At Quincy
Quincy, IL - The Burlington Bees (9-9) lost in a walk off to the Quincy Doggy Paddlers (8-8) 7-6 June 15 at QU Stadium.
The Bees finished with six runs, ten hits and four errors. The team began the game with two runs in the first.
Caleb Klein (SCC) led off with a single. Miles Risley (Iowa) walked to put the first two in the order on.
Corey Boyette (Lipscomb) put runners on the corners on a fielder's choice.
Mason Schwalbach (Southern Illinois) singled to score one. An error brought Boyette home.
Quincy scored an unearned run in the bottom of the inning.
The team's starters dueled for the next few frames.
Kaelen Clarkson (SUNY Plattsburgh) received his third start. The lefty tossed four innings with two earned runs allowed.
The Paddlers scored three times on two homers in the fourth.
Klein and Risley both reached on bunts to begin the fifth inning. Boyette grounded out to score Klein.
Schwalbach singled to bring home another and make it 4-4.
Dylan Eggl (Ohio) threw two shutout innings with three strikeouts to keep it tied.
Burlington's top of the order stayed hot in the seventh.
Risley again reached the start of the frame. He grounded the ball in the infield, with an error allowing him to reach and get to second.
The Hawkeye went to third on a passed ball and Boyette scored him on a groundout.
Schwalbach doubled with the bases empty. He finished four for five with a run and RBI.
Keanu Spenser (Hawaii-Pacific) singled to make it 6-4.
Quincy scored two unearned runs in the eight. The team got the walkoff hit in the ninth.
Braeden Sunken (Maryville) received the loss. Brady Lowe got the win.
Both teams have the day off tomorrow. Burlington returns to action June 17, travelling to Peru, Illinois to face off against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (6-10) at 7:05 p.m.
