Bees Offense Flies in Wild Victory At Quincy
Quincy, IL - The Burlington Bees (9-6) put up a season-high in runs in a 16-12 victory against the Quincy Doggy Paddlers (6-8) at QU Stadium June 12.
Burlington has scored 26 runs in its last two games. The result gives the team its fourth road win, which matches last year's season total in road victories.
The Bees jumped out with six runs in the second, three in the fifth, five in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Eight of the nine Burlington starters recorded hits. 13 different players registered at least a plate appearance.
The team led by as much as 12, with Quincy scoring three in seventh and six in the eighth to prevent the Bees from enacting the run rule.
Cole Yearsley (Winthrop) led the way going two for four with a run, two walks and four RBI. The lefty smashed a homer in the top of the fifth to begin the rally.
Conor Fitzpatrick (Eureka) went two for four with a pair of runs and RBI. The lefty hit out of the nine hole, picking up a huge two-out RBI single in the second. The team would go on to score four more times in the inning following the hit.
Kooper Schulte (Iowa) also went two for four. He finished with a run, RBI and walk. One of his hits was a ninth inning triple.
Ryan Skwarek (McHenry) had two hits and RBI. The Southern Indiana commit had the opening RBI on a second inning sacrifice fly.
Mason Schwalbach (Southern Illinois) also clocked multiple hits. Caleb Seibers (Olney Central) tallied two RBI after pinch hitting in the seventh inning,
Danny Harris (Mesa CC) received the win in a six inning start. He allowed two hits and one run with four strikeouts.
Four other pitchers were used. Parker Lewin (Minnesota) threw the final 1.1 with an earned run surrendered.
Starter Nathan Murphy got the loss for the Paddlers.
Quincy travels to the Springfield (5-9) Lucky Horseshoes for a Friday Night game.
The Bees return home, taking on the Clinton Lumberkings (10-5) June 13 at 6:30 p.m. It is game one of a two game set, with the top spot in the Northwest Division on the line.
