Burlington Records First Loss Of Season in Normal
Normal, IL - The Burlington Bees (1-1) lost their first game of 2025, dropping a 9-5 duel against the Normal Cornbelters (1-1) at the Corn Crib May 28.
The Bees dug themselves a hole early, being down 6-0 going into the sixth frame. The offense strung together a rally to pull themselves within two.
Connor Kave (Harper College) singled and advanced to third on a passed ball and wild pitch. Kooper Schulte (Iowa) walked and Kave scored on another wild pitch.
Keanu Spenser (Hawaii-Pacific) followed with a double to score another. He has 3 RBI in two games this season.
Conor Fitzpatrick (Eureka) got aboard on a walk and Caleb Seibers (Olney Central College) brought Spenser home on a groundout.
The team tacked on one more on a Kila Teixeira (Hawaii-Pacific) RBI single. He finished 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI.
The Bees scored one more run in the eighth, provided on an RBI groundout from Teixeira.
Six of eight Burlington starters recorded a hit, with the team leaving eight on base.
The team utilized five pitchers, beginning with Alex Logan (John Wood CC) allowing three runs in 2.1 innings pitched.
Dylan Eggl (Ohio) and Braeden Sunken (Maryville) led the group of relievers, both throwing a pair of innings with a run allowed a piece. Sunken recorded three strikeouts.
Normal's starter Graham Kasey went three shutout innings with four strikeouts. Toby Schriefer received the win in two innings of work.
