Heartbreaker Extends Losing Streak

Jackson, Tn - The Burlington Bees (5-20) were two outs away from their first road win. The team entered the ninth with a four run lead but would go on to lose a 8-7 heartbreaker against the Jackson Rockabillys (15-8) at Jackson Baseball Stadium June 26.

The Bees losing streak is up to nine and the team has a 0-12 record on the road.

Burlington had a balanced attack to get to a position of success. Only two pitchers were used in the first eight innings and the team latched on 12 hits.

Jackson Wohlers (Rock Valley College) made his fifth start, which finished as his longest of the season. The righty went for 5.2 frames with three hits, five strikeouts and a run allowed. This was a bounce back for Wohlers, who went two innings in his last start.

Joe Evans (Morton College) bridged the team until the ninth. He pitched for 2.1, with three hits and two runs allowed. Evans had five strikeouts, which was his most of the season, and is up to the second most innings of any Burlington pitcher.

Seven Bees recorded hits, with the team scoring three in the fifth and two in the ninth. Landon Akers (Bellarmine) led the way, going four for five with three runs. This was his season-high in hits.

In just his second game of the season, Corey Boyette (Heartland Community College) had a two RBI day on a two for five game. Kinnick Pusteoska (Tennessee Tech) also put together a multi-hit effort, finishing two for four with a RBI.

Nick Meyer (Mt.Mercy University) and Skyler Agnew (Hawaii-Pacific) also had an RBI each. Cooper Donlin (Hawaii-Pacific) went one for five with a run to bring his on-base streak to 15 games.

Burlington sticks with the same location and opponent, with the teams matching up at 7:00 p.m. June 27.
